  2. Tuesday 2.8.11 Drum Mastery

It was about 9:15am when I started off with the morning warm up stretch. I took a deep breathe and pushed all the negativity out of my life. It’s just me and my instrument. It’s been about a month since I’ve been working on this drum teaching process. “Freedrumlessons.com” is pretty awesome. I can say I look forward to it more than my days off work  and my weekends. I’m constantly growing mentally and creatively. It’s been hard because I’m developing my own system transposing the real drum kit onto a keyboard midi kit. So far I feel and hear the improvement. I started off at 0% and now I’m getting close to 100%, It won’t stop at a hundred though, We’ll go to an infinite percentage.

There are 40 rudiments, music theory, dynamics and all kinds of fun stuff. In due time I’ll get a real drummers advice to see if I’m learning all of this correctly. I have a few talented drummer friends that I can ask to come in and evaluate my progress but for now. I feel what I’m doing sounds correct. I can hear and feel the difference when I go to Damage Kontrol rehearsal or even jam with Ed “Pastense” Pasalo. I’m starting to feel the pockets and hits. I would like to get in earlier tomorrow.  9am would be about right. So I’ll leave my house at 8:30, clean up the Damage Kontrol room, then get knockin. I hate rushing my practice time. So 9am it is.
